Jordi Esgleas is a Barcelona-based self-shooting filmmaker and freelance cinematographer specializing in international documentaries and high-end branded content. With over 27 years of experience, he has worked in more than 40 countries, bringing his distinctive vision to projects of all scales and budgets.

In the documentary field, Jordi has served as director of photography for major platforms and production companies, including Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Dogwoof, Boardwalk Pictures (Chef’s Table), Anomaly Content & Entertainment (Free Solo), Skydance, Intuitive Pictures, Bloomberg, Arte TV, France Télévisions, and NBC, among others.

His films have been selected at over 80 international festivals, including Oscar-qualifying events such as Hot Docs, Raindance, Doc Edge, and DOC NYC, as well as other notable festivals like the Málaga Film Festival and IN-EDIT Barcelona. His work has also earned prestigious accolades, including Winer at Cinema for Peace 2025 (The Click Trap Dir. by Peter Porta), Gold Award for Best Cinematography at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles for Part of Me, Anuar Khalify by Yasiin Bey, which he directed.

Recently, Jordi collaborated as a cinematographer with Evan Hayes (Free Solo, 2018 – Academy Award for Best Documentary) and Pedro Kos (Oscar nominee for Best Documentary Short in 2021, director of The Great Hack, 2019 Netflix).

In the commercial sphere, he has worked with global brands such as Danone, Zara, Bentley Motors, Oysho, Xiaomi, Leica Ambassadors, Silversea, and Volkswagen. He has also maintained a long-term collaboration with The Macallan for over five years, capturing iconic figures such as Mike Newell, David Carson, Steve McCurry, Mogwai, Simple Minds, Craig Armstrong, The Roca Brothers (El Celler de Can Roca), and Chang Chen, among many others.

Jordi is a traveler at heart and one of the only two people with whom I’ve visited all the seven continents. From the beginning, his artistic eye for tasteful framing caught my attention. But behind the camera, he reveals other valuable traits. Everyone who worked with him notices his work ethics; he never gives up, he's passionate, meticulous and always ready for the next shoot, be it in a frozen landscape or under a scorching desert sun. Over the years working together, Jordi became a close friend and a professional I hold in deep esteem.
